Explore the Fashion of LA in City Of Style
New York, London, Paris, Milan. While these cities are commonly known as the capitals of fashion, there are many cities that have become lost in the mix despite having a lively fashion scene, Los Angeles being just one of them. Happily, that is no more thanks toCity of Style: Exploring Los Angeles Fashion, from Bohemian to Rock, a new book by Melissa Magsaysay, style editor of the Los Angeles Times.
InCity of Style, Magsaysay explores the different fashion subcultures that exist in Los Angeles—including romantic bohemian, skater and surfer, chola-style, casual chic, indie-eclectic, and so on. Each of these styles has been shaped by the climate, history, and personalities of Los Angeles, not to mention the individual neighborhoods where each style was born. In addition to explore these looks, Magsaysay has interviewed Los Angeles-based fashion personalities and designers including Trina Turk, Cameron Silver, and Cynthia Rowley, all of whom offer up a taste of what inspires them about Los Angeles.
